Sigiriya means "Lion Rocks"in ancient language. Sigiriya is in Dambulla region of Sri Lanka. The area covered by 200 mt height rock in Sigiriya and the first city established in 477 B.C.E.
It is the most protected ancient city in term of its settlement program. This place is protected by UNESCO and it is in UNESCO's World Heritage List because of this property.
When can I go to Sigiriya?
If you like hot weather, the ideal times to visit the Sigiriya is in December or January. In December or January, average temperature of the weather is around 30 celcius degree.
What can I do in Sigiriya?
There are touristic places in Sigiriya to visit. The most popular place to visit in Sigiriya is "Lion Rocks". Also you should visit abondoned Sigiriya Temple. Moreover, you can visit Buddha Temples in ancient city and examine the wall inscriptions.
